Why does Quicknote ask whether I want to save the file on shutdown?
The behaviour for text that you write into the main note (T) is just like any other text editor. If you enter text in this note, Quicknote will ask you, whether you want to save it into an external file. If you create notes as quicknotes into the category view, they are internaly managed and automatically opened and saved by Quicknote.
---
However, this behavior is changed in version 5.5 which will be published soon. Here, an unsaved text in the Main Note will not prevent shutdown any more. |

Thanks for your reply; but this doesn't seem to account for the problem. I get the message whether or not I have actually used Quick Note in any session. It's not a matter of saving unsaved text; rather, that my computer will not close down unless I first manually close Quick Note. |

Once there's a text in the Main Note, it stays there even if you don't use it in this session. Try emptying the main note.
Are you able to close Quicknote completely by using "Exit" in the menu or what message do you get then?
Otherwise, can you try the current beta 5.5 please? |

This seems to happen even if the Main Note is empty. I have downloaded and installed the Beta, and will see if that works better.
Another small problem is that I use Virtual CD, and store a dictionary permanently in a virtual drive. Quick Note usually refuses to close unless I "eject" the virtual CD, which I prefer not to do. Is there a way to prevent this? |

Ah, probably it's that: You have activated the option "Warn if removable media in drives at shutdown" (General section of the options). If that's activated, it displays a message to warn you about your cd's.
Windows 7 is not patient enough to show it and kills Quicknote quite fast.
Deactivate that option and it should work. |
